February is as good a time as any to get momentum going with your goal-oriented habits. Together we’ll get you moving forward and actually doing the things you’ve been stuck with for a long time.

This is a never-fall-off accountability program, where for 31 consecutive days, we'll engage daily in a remarkably effective "Socratic dialogue" (read more below) – which will happen asynchronously in a collaborative WorkFlowy space.

  • I'm inviting you to dive in and engage with the program and experience firsthand whether my habit coaching delivers on its promise.

If after the 31 days of engaging daily with me, you haven't made measurable progress with a major constructive habit, or have a targeted bad habit well under control, then I insist that you reach out to me and ask for a refund.

I'm making this guarantee because I'm confident in the power of this program to effect real change – and that you'll not only see results, but also feel genuinely inspired by the changes you've made.

  • Think of a Socratic dialogue (inspired by the Greek philosopher Socrates) as a thought-provoking conversation. Here's how it will typically unfold:

I'll begin by asking about the habits you want to make and break and how they connect to your goals. In response, you'll share your thoughts, and we'll keep the conversation flowing with more questions and answers.

Along the way, self-reflection, critical thinking and the exploration of different ideas and solutions will unfold naturally.

I've used this approach very effectively with my coaching clients.

  • Well be having asynchronous conversations in a collaborative WorkFlowy outline.

(I'll upgrade you to a brilliant new set of features WorkFlowy has, with the ability to have streamlined conversations, drafts, notifications, etc.)

There are fantastic advantages to be had through asynchronous coaching:

    1. No scheduling conflicts at all. You interact with the dialogue whenever you have time during the day. This is precisely what will allow for consistent engagement for 21 days in a row.

    2. No matter what you've got going—whether illness, your birthday, a national holiday, a vacation, etc.—you'll comfortably be able to continue our daily dialogue and log your progress.

    3. We'll get straight to the heart of the matter: written communication tends to be more precise. The questions will be tailor-made and specific to the habits you choose to focus on.

    4. I'll be able to pose more deliberative and thoughtful questions, while you can take the time needed to reflect on your answers before responding – which is often not the easiest when speaking with a coach in real time. This leads to a more meaningful dialogue.

    5. You'll have a written record of insights, Eureka! moments and breakthroughs you can easily reference. Think of our dialogue as a more elegantly structured version of an email thread.

    6. WorkFlowy allows for multi-threaded discussions to occur simultaneously, allowing us to spread out the conversation and explore multiple facets of the topic at hand.

    7. You'll go deep into the indispensable practice of journaling, without even realizing it. Our dialogue will train you to continue with the same reflective dynamics—in written form or in your head—long after our 3 weeks are up.

    8. If you're not very comfortable speaking English, you get to think and write at your own pace. Also feel free to write in your first language. I will simply translate.

    9. Besides our running dialogue, we’ll also have other quick-and-easy dynamics such as a don't break the chain chart and a timeline to plot the actionable items that arise from our conversations.

  • You'll have a WorkFlowy expert and accomplished productivity coach in your corner. My experience in habit formation is ample – as my readers and coaching clients will attest to. You're likely one of them.

I'll help you create a plan of action, iterate on it, and track your progress from beginning to end. I will also be holding you to your commitments.

I'll nudge you daily, through an automated email, to check in and engage in our dialogue.

Helping people find real-life practical solutions is what I do with my productivity teaching. Habit coaching is something I've been engaged in for the longest of times.

I'm pretty good at asking the right questions. Not just because I've coached over 200 WorkFlowy users one-on-one, but because I've always been a prolific question asker. The right series of questions can get to the root of anything. It allows one to engage in introspection that results in change.

  • Your responses may take you anywhere between 5-20 minutes a day, depending on how much you have to say. You can post your responses in your own timing after reflecting.

I do the heavy lifting as I read, digest and respond with insightful questions and suggestions.

If you're not excited about typing, you can attach audio files of your responses (in any language) to our dialogue in WorkFlowy. I'll make use of a transcription service.

Beyond our daily dialogue, the habits you commit to and put into action are to be determined. We’ll make these part of your daily routine.

  • 1. Preparation phase: 10 days of thought-provoking questions, one a day, which can be applied to multiple habits.

    2. Interactive phase: daily asynchronous "Socratic dialogues" for 21 days – lazer focused on habits you want to build and those you want to curb.

    3. Daily email reminder: nudging you to engage – both in the 10-day preparation phase and the 21-day interactive phase.

    4. At least 12 hours of my focused attention over 21 days.

    5. Accountability for 31 consecutive days. If you don't "show up", I'll be on your case.

    6. I'll help you schedule your habits in a personalized Timeline template and track your progress in a don't-break-the-chain chart. This alone is life transforming, as can be seen in the testimonials here.

    7. A live follow-up call at the close of the 21 days, if you so choose.

Comments from participants

  • I'm very appreciative of this 31-day challenge. I feel like it's the emotional/spiritual equivalent to a week of deep tissue massages. I've really been able to unpack a lot of stuff that I had let build up. What this course has taught me is to feel worthy enough and capable of achieving a mindset and guiding philosophy where I simply don't accept failure. I think this is an impressive testament to the potency of this Socratic Dialogue and your ability to run it.

  • I've been telling my students, wife and anyone else who will listen, that your "31 Days to Sticky Habits" challenge is a modernized, democratized and superior version of Seth Godin's AltMBA, which I participated in, in the Summer of 2017.

  • At your prompting, I can't tell you how good it feels to have decided to focus "only" on one habit (for the time being): I feel so much less pressure/paralysis. I think that "getting a taste" of how good it feels to start off the day right has motivated me to try again after a setback. I also think that accountability, vis à vis yourself, is playing a huge part, but obviously you won't be here to check up on me forever…

  • And I really am appreciating your leadership and thoughtfulness...I definitely feel supported and accountable, but not in an unpleasant way.

  • Previous attempts on routine exercise have not yielded as strong of a feeling of well being. I don't know why it is this time. Whatever it is, I really like it. It is providing some overall perspective that I was missing.

  • How can we have just one week left?! When we started the program, I thought the month would seem so long and like so much work, but it has been a delight and an incredible support for work that I have been trying to do for a very, very long time. I have found a lot of value in typing the dialogue vs meeting in person or via video chat. Typing discourages me from being performative for the coach or counselor and getting those pats on the head for the 30 minutes and then going back to life without too much of a consideration of really working to implement a new approach. Lots has clicked into place with your coaching style and this format, and came at the right time for me. I am hopeful this the beginning of true change (I DO believe I really am building the real skills to keep positive habits in place) and not just a blip on the performative client timeline! I so appreciate your work, leadership and support!

  • I really appreciate you helping me along on my journey. I know it seems like I have steamed ahead with confidence, but I can truly say that so many things clicked in place because I received your email about habit coaching, it caught my eye, it was affordable, I was intrigued by the approach, I just went ahead and invested in signing up right away and I have reaped so many benefits from the thoughtful approach, resources shared, gentle suggestions and caring support, which I needed to step on to this path and keep on it for three weeks. This experience will definitely build my confidence for the future and I excited to see the results. Thank you, Frank.

  • Your insights definitely elevate the conversation I'd otherwise be having with myself. I'm seeing really important insights and even though some of this should be obvious (I teach it and write about it in my books after all!) it's not always obvious where and how I am not applying my own principles. So again I thank you. This is far more than sticky habits - it's plumbing the depths in a way that truly helps me move forward.

  • Thank you so much Frank - it's been a pleasure getting to know you (somewhat anyway!) through your responses and questions. It's always amazing to me what can happen with great questions and a willing spirit to explore. Quite a testament to the power of asynchronous! You seem to have a gift for this...
